Ok, you will tell me that complaining is uselss, that devs do whatever they want to, or even that i'm a part of the "minority". I fully agree.
But first of all, this is a community forum so I think people have to say when they believe sth is outshining nice, or when they dislike a foreseen update. After all, as long as we all stay polite and don't trash, this can give ideas to other ppl/devs (or well, I hope so )
The other thing is, I find that in the old days, GW was a game where u had to have some playing skills : remember the official point of view from ANet : chances to complete an area / coop missions / etc ... will have nth to see with equipment but only with players' skills. I guess most of those who started the game 3y ago can remember how THK was a "noob filter", how hard it was to find an effective party for FoW and how UW was a real challenge.
But all along these 3years, even if some harder areas came out, basically devs have made the game easier and easier, introducing heroes first, then ursan skills. But well, there I could always try to find teams w/o ursans and do it the oldway. But that HoM update definetely kills the achievements one could have completed. Maybe I will be told I am kind of an egoist and/or vanitous (correct spelling ?), but I mourn the fact that my good skills will in the end prove useless.

I believe the word you want is "vain." Anyway, although I think that this update is really good, I do sympathize with your lost work and achievements. It must be a real disappointing for you to see all that work seemingly lost. Though perhaps Anet will realize that this is the case with many people and will reward you for it somehow? It's not certain the duplicate achievements will be ignored.

I was kind of hoping this would be added today. Ie the first Thursday but we got an update yesterday and it's going to be a busy weekend event so I'm guessing it's going to be put off oh well.

a big step in the right direction, but still far from perfect (which is impossible anyway, too many ppl have differing opinions on what would be good or bad to change additionally).
they have made a few really good changes to the hom (minipets are now dedicated instead of customized, now account-wide achievements). hopefully they will tweak the very few problems still left in it.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think account based transfers to GW2 kind of sucks. Based on the OP information, all of the transerable titles except lucky/unlucky are PvP based. Now, I realize GW is a PvP oriented game, but I worked my butt off ... for no reason now. IMHO, every title I accomplish that can be displayed should be transferable. Otherwise, what's the point?

The OP is saying that accomplishments in the HoM will be account-based (i.e. your Protector of Tyria on one character covers the whole account), not that they're only transferring account-based titles.

I just wonder how this all ties with KOABD:
Main grind with HoH is title monument and if they are still best ascquired on single character because of KOABD...

As far as we know NO titles will be transfered, we will get a reward for each "unlocked Accomplishment" in HoM.

Please read the little info there is before making assumptions.

I have a question, and I do apologize if it's been answered in the last 19 pages.
I've got a full hall on my Assassin except for the Weapons monument. I'd really prefer to buy the weapons on a character I'll use them on, i.e. I'm thinking about buying a Destroyer staff for my Ele. I want a "full hall" for whatever benefit that offers in GW2, so my question is -- is there ANY advantage to filling my primary's individual hall or should I ignore that last monument and fill it for the "account" Hall?
Thanks in advance.

That's interesting. Conflicting info there. I'd like to know which is accurate. How do you know which has or hasn't been updated?

Let me explain myself :
For "casual" players, this update is definetely a boon. People don't need to complete titles and focus on the same charater.
But for Hardcore Gamers, which I am, this update means the waste of hours of game. My Necromancer is currently r6 kobd, my sin has maxed 27 titles and my monk has reached her 16 maxed titles. Of course, most of you can imagine the time and money investment for a r6 kobd, so I believe that you can easily understand how cheated and decieved I feel.
Most explicitely, I have wasted hours and money on my sin and my monk, now that I learn that all the achievements made with my sin are completely useless. I was glad to know the Canthan festival was approching, since it is the best moment to complete the drunkard/sweet title. But today I feel like it would be completely stupid to do that with my sin, since my N has already completed these titles. I don't think I will spend money on sweets nor festivals finally ...
Moreover, that update will allow players to put tormented weapons in the HoM. My god ! I could have used all the money i've spent on my sin and my monk (elite capture, lockpicks, consumables -no way to go in DoA rather than in ursan) to craft tormented weapons ...
With that update, not only I find that I have wasted time on other chars, but I also learn that I have wasted a lot of money ... So all in all, the only thing I could say is that I have the growing feeling that, trying to allow every player to achieve everything in the game, devs have averaged the level through mediocrity (ursans, consumables, and now that HoM update). I want to make it clear, would HoM have been a "GW1-only" thing, ok why not. But the fact is that, being directly linked to GW2, it would be even faster to give all the players who had a license to play GW1 the same bonuses, advantages or whatever.
One last thing : if u take into account the incredibly hard-to-complete, time-consuming titles such as Factions titles, and the incredibly easy-to-finish so-called "elite areas" (which are nothing but elites today : what a joke, 2h DoA, less than 1h HM FoW/UW), GW ends up being another "farming game" : ecto farming, gemstone farming, FFF/HFFF (one F means Farming).
Well I guess i have understood : Mediocrity ftw, elitism is evil ...
|
That's what happens when you make the choice to grind out titles instead of doing things that you genuinely enjoy in the game. People seem to forget how to play a game for entertainment.

Tormented Weapons
Currently, the Monument to Valor only allows the display of Destroyer weapons. Adding support for Tormented weapons will allow us to give players more options for what they want to display (and unlock for Guild Wars 2) without diminishing the exclusivity currently associated with this monument
|
Absolutly flipping rediculous...total..100% epic fail...
They said this wouldnt chnage, that destroyer weps will be the ONLY thing able to be added..and now this...i invested time and money in getting a maxed wepon monument and now this...i cant stand the destroyer skins, but i got them...to 'unlock gw2 content' and now this...adding tormented weps..im not agasint tormented weps. What i abhor is the fact that they have gone back on there word, leaving me with 11+ CUSTOMISED destroyer weps, which i dont even like, where as i could have 11 tormented wepons...
In ADDITION to that, it now seems tormented wepons will unlock DIFFERENT content than destroyer weps.
Instant Fail
EDIT:
What is sicking is the fact that they will add tormented weps, and i have 11+ destroyer weps....which are customized....they are worthless...i cannot even sell to buy tormented..so what are they going to do? Keep the same process for tormented? You pay 100k+xxe dedicate it, its becomes customised and thats it...worthless to the open market.
At least remove customization

As I understand it :
We no longer need to get a full monument of armours, weapons, heroes or minipets on a single character.
I have 5 characters with one elite armour each. So for GW2's sake my elite armour monument is full.
The same counts for the weapons etc...
I hope this is correct.

It's not conflicting, it just means that players who didn't have an GW 1 account before GW 2 came out won't be able to 'transfer' stuff through the HoM. (They won't be selling it anymore, highly likely.)
Players who already owned a GW 1 account will still be able to 'transfer' stuff through there HoM, even after they bought a GW 2 account.
